What Hyper-Independence Actually Looks Like (And Why You Don’t See It)
Most women I work with don’t walk in saying, “Hi, I’m hyper-independent and it’s ruining my life.” Nope!
They say things like:
If any of that hits a little too close to home, keep reading. Because when you reach your max and you’re finally done carrying this shit—you don’t have to wait months for relief.
That’s where EMDR Therapy Intensives come in!
This isn’t your standard, stop and start weekly therapy. It’s a laser focused, deep-dive approach designed to accelerate your healing.
This is perfect for for hyper-independent women who "got shit to do" and are ready to finally face the fuckery, process it at the root, and walk away feeling lighter—without spending years in therapy to get there.
Look, regular weekly therapy can be great — I still have weekly sessions for clients but for women who are wired to power through and hate dragging shit out, an EMDR Intensive can cut through the noise faster.
Instead of spending months chipping away at surface-level stuff, we go straight to the root — the stuck trauma, the old bullshit beliefs (like "I have to do everything alone"), and the emotional landmines that keep your nervous system in permanent fight-or-flight mode.
You don’t have to explain every single detail of your life or relive it in slow motion — this isn’t trauma tourism. We’re here to process that shit and help your brain actually heal it, so you can move forward without carrying it all on your back.
Think of it Like Hitting the Fast-Forward Button on Your Healing.
EMDR intensives are deep-dive sessions designed to move serious trauma in way less time. Instead of spending months in weekly therapy, chipping away at the same old wounds, you get laser-focused work that helps you process the big stuff in one deeply transformational session. They follow the same structure as traditional EMDR sessions, but instead of cramming everything into short 50-minute weekly sessions, we’re talking 3.5 to 7-hour sessions within one or two days (depending on your package) where we roll up our sleeves and go in.
How Does It Work?
We use EMDR — a proven, evidence-based trauma therapy that taps into how your brain naturally processes memories. Using bilateral stimulation (that’s a fancy way of saying we activate both sides of your brain with equipment that buzzes, beeps, or moves your eyes side to side, we help your nervous system finally reprocess trauma the way it should have the first time.
What Kind of Trauma?
Why It’s a Game-Changer
What would take months in 50-minute weekly therapy sessions gets accomplished in just a few intensive sessions. An intensive lets us actually get in there, do the work, and help you break the cycles that have kept you stuck for years. It’s like trading slow-drip healing for a firehose of progress — messy at times, but holy shit, is it effective.
I know EMDR intensives work—not just from the breakthroughs I’ve seen with my clients, but because this is the exact EMDR approach I use in my own healing journey.
Once we confirm that EMDR Intensives are the right fit for you (and that we’re a solid team for this work), you’ll receive an intake questionnaire designed specifically for EMDR Intensives. This isn’t just busywork—it helps us cut through the fluff and get straight to what actually matters.
You’ll also get a downloadable treatment workbook to help you start organizing your thoughts, emotions, and goals before our 90-minute EMDR Intensive Intake Session.
The more prepared you are, the deeper we can go, setting you up for the most impactful healing experience possible.
Before we dive into your EMDR Intensive we'll start with your 90-minute intake session.
The EMDR Intensive Assessment happens 1-2 weeks before your intensive.
This gives us giving us time to get to know each other, prep, handle any questions and set the target goal, so when the real work starts, you’re ready to fucking rock and roll.
On the day of your intensive, we’ll meet for deep, focused AF healing.
Here’s an example of a 3-hour intensive schedule:
This isn’t your average therapy session—it’s an intensive, no-BS, let’s-get-this-healing-done experience.
If you opted for a follow up session. We'll meet again for a 60-minute session 2-3 weeks after your intensive. This gives your brain, body and nervous system time to settle in to the transformtiional shift and regulate.
I will send out a post EMDR Intensive assessment 2-3 days after your intensive session. This will help us see what came up, what shifted, and what’s still unfolding.
Keep in mind processing does not stop after the intensive, it's running in the background so if things come up and you have questions, this is where you will get them answered.
Next steps will be discussed—whether that’s more processing, additional support, or just making sure you’re set up to keep the kick-ass momentum going.
I offer 1-day and 2-day in-person EMDR Therapy Intensives with 3-hour processing sessions, giving you the flexibility to choose the format that fits your needs best.
1-DAY INTENSIVE
A 1-day EMDR Intensive packs a serious punch — perfect if you need to kick some stuck trauma to the curb, clear out negative thoughts, or boost your confidence like the badass you are. It’s great for single-event trauma or getting unstuck fast. But if you’ve got Complex PTSD or a whole messy trauma history, one day might not cut it (because let’s be real — that shit’s layered).
That’s why a lot of my clients book regular half-day tune-ups or go all in with a 2-day deep dive, so we can keep the breakthroughs coming without wasting years in weekly therapy.
90-minute Intake Session
3 Hour Intensive
60-minute follow up session
(optional but HIGHLY recommended)
Investment Starting at $1100: Resources, assessments, and downloadable treatment workbook included.
2-DAY INTENSIVE
If you’re ready to get some serious traction in your healing, a 2-day EMDR Intensive is where it’s at. This is deep-dive, breakthrough-level work that helps you process way more in a couple days than you would in months of traditional sessions — or even a single half-day intensive.
During your consult, we’ll figure out if this is the right move for you — because therapy should work for you, not force you to fit into some outdated therapy schedule. This is your time — make it count.
90-minute Intake Session
3 Hour Intensive (x2)
60-minute follow up session
Investment Starting at $2000: Resources, assessments, and downloadable treatment workbook included.
Here’s the downlow — EMDR Intensives aren’t the only way to heal deep-rooted shit.
I still work with clients weekly including EMDR, and that slower, steady pace can absolutely work if you need more time to regulate between sessions, process in bite-sized chunks, or just prefer a little breathing room as you go.
But — and this is a big but — I’ve seen it over and over again:
Trauma recovery moves way faster in intensives.
Period! Clients who choose the intensive route process more trauma, deeper, in a few days than they usually would in months of weekly therapy.
That means less time managing symptoms and more time actually living your damn life without trauma calling the shots.
I’m talking about real, noticeable shifts — the kind where you walk out of here already feeling lighter, clearer, and more like yourself.
The kind where you finally stop second-guessing every move you make or reacting like your survival depends on it.
What Happens When You Stop White-Knuckling Through Life.
When trauma isn’t constantly running in the background like a glitchy-ass app, you stop spiraling every time something triggers you.
You stop shutting down the second things feel out of control.
You stop overreacting, overexplaining, over-apologizing — hell, you stop over everything-ing just to survive the day.
Instead?
Intensives Aren’t a Magic Wand — But They Are a Damn Good Shortcut
Look, I’m not here to sell you some unicorn promise that one intensive is gonna fix your whole life.
Healing is still work — and this shit gets heavy, especially when we’re moving at warp speed.
An intensive is like hitting the fast-forward button on your healing playlist — which means big emotions can and will come up.
That’s not failure; that’s the process working.
But healing happens in connection — with someone who can see your blind spots and hold space for the stuff you shove down.
That’s why you need a therapist who knows how to help you build real coping tools, hold space for the messy parts, and keep you grounded when your nervous system feels like it’s short-circuiting.
Lucky for you — that’s exactly what I do.
This Isn’t Some Woo-Woo Dream — It’s Real, and Possible AF
(I Know Because I’ve Lived It)
I’m not just saying this as a therapist — I’ve sat in the client seat. I’ve done this work.
I’ve felt that gut-punch of realizing just how much trauma was still calling the shots, even when I thought I had my shit together.
And I’ve experienced first hand what happens when you actually process that shit instead of just coping with it.
That’s why I’m so damn passionate about these intensives.
I know they work, because intensives are the EXACT approach I use in my own personal healing journey.
So, if you’re ready to stop surviving and start actually living on your own damn terms, I’m ready to help you get there.
You're a good fit for EMDR Intensives if...
You’re a hyper-independent woman who’s tired of waiting for change and ready for real progress fast and ready to get focused, do the deep work to process trauma, break old patterns, and finally release the shit that’s been holding you back.
If you’re dealing with childhood trauma, anxiety, burnout, or self-worth struggles, and you want to cut the bullshit and heal on your own damn terms, this is for you!
EMDR Intensives are not a good fit if...
You’re experiencing current or recent suicidality within the last 6 months, active substance misuse, or have been recently hospitalized for psychiatric care, an intensive might not be the safest option right now.
That being said, this isn’t a one-size-fits-all rule.
Everyone’s situation is unique, and there are always exceptions. If you’re unsure whether an EMDR intensive is right for you, let’s talk it through in a consultation. My priority is your safety and well-being, so we’ll make sure this approach is a good fit before we even start diving in.
Telehealth or In-person Intensives?
I offer EMDR Intensives both in-person and via Telehealth — but here’s the deal: because staring at a screen for hours melts your brain and actually messes with your ability to process, Telehealth Intensives might have longer break times.
And You MUST be physically located in Florida for Telehealth EMDR. No Florida address, no virtual intensive — I don’t make the rules, but I sure as hell have to follow them.
More F.A.Q for EMDR Intensives
Hell yes! Therapy Intensives work great as an adjunct to your current therapy. If you’re already working with a therapist, we can team up to make sure you’re getting the best support possible.
I do ask that you sign a Release of Information so your therapist and myself can collaborate and keep everything aligned with your healing goals—because this is about you getting the most out of your therapy, no matter where you're at in the process.
To secure your EMDR Intensive, a non-refundable deposit (25% of your total cost) is required once confirmed we are moving forward and scheudling your intensive.
Once scheduled, I’ll hold your intensive dates for ONE week from day of scheduling. During that time, you’ll need to complete your paperwork in the client portal and download your treatment workbook.
The remaining balance is due in full the week of your intensive. If you’re booking a 2-day package, the full balance must be paid the week of Day 1.
Example: EMDR Intensive day is Thursday, balance is due that Monday before.
I do offer payment plans through Affirm, and Klarna in my Stripe accout. If you’re planning to use one of these options, let me know during our consultation so we can go through the process together.
To work with me, you need to be physically in Florida. So, if you’re out of state, you can absolutely travel in for an EMDR Intensive.
Many times getting away from daily stressors lets you fully dive into this healingprocess, without the usual distractions pulling you back into bullshit survival mode. You get to hit pause on the chaos, go all in on your growth, and give yourself permission to focus solely on healing—because you f*cking deserve it.
If you’re coming from out of state, keep this in mind: Your intake and followup session must be completed at time of EMDR Intensive. Once you leave Florida after your EMDR Intensive, I legally can NOT provide follow-up support.
Due to that a 2-Day EMDR Therapy Intensive might be a better fit. Prior to scheduling your intensive we will create a game plan and make sure you have solid support system lined up for when you return home. A little extra planning = the best chance for success.
Let’s talk money! EMDR Intensives are not covered by insurance. However, you can use your Health Savings Account (HSA) Health Reimbursement Arrangement (HRA) or Flexible Spending Account (FSA) for either all or a portion of the cost. If you out-of-network benefits, your insurance might reimburse a portion of the cost—though don’t expect them to reimburse you or make it easy.
Your best bet? Call the customer service number on the back of your insurance card and ask the right questions:
Do I have out-of-network benefits for mental health services?
Do I have a deductible for out-of-network services? If so, has it been met?
What CPT codes do you reimburse? (Try asking about 90837 or two 90843 in one day.)
What is the reimbursement rate for each billing code?
What is the allowable amount for reimbursement?
Insurance companies love to be vague AF, so get clear answers before assuming they’ll cover anything. I can provide a superbill if you want to submit a claim, but payment is due in full prior to EMDR Therapy Intensive session.
EMDR intensives are a highly effective approach for PTSD and complex PTSD, often leading to faster symptom relief and fewer dropouts compared to traditional therapy. This format is especially powerful for childhood trauma, neglect, and parenting wounds, allowing for deep trauma processing without the constant interruptions of weekly sessions.
Instead of wasting time on check-ins, updates, and wrap ups, EMDR intensives let you dive straight in and get real work done. By eliminating the stop-and-start of traditional therapy, EMDR intensives help you heal faster and more effectively.
